# Connect a calendar

## What it does

An organisation has dates that matter for its communication: a trade fair, an open day, the start of a promotion, an anniversary, an election in the sector. If they are in a calendar, nobody has to type them over. inConcept reads the calendar every morning and puts its days on the calendar in inConcept, beside the texts that are planned. What falls within six weeks and fits your brand also shows under Suggestions, so the text is ready in time.

## Three ways

- **Follow a calendar.** You give the address of a public calendar, and inConcept reads it again every morning. What you change in the calendar is in inConcept the next day. This is the way for a calendar that lives.
- **Import a file.** You drop an .ics file into the window. inConcept takes the days over once and keeps only those days, not the file. For a new version you import the file again. This is the way when public sharing is not allowed.
- **A calendar of your own.** A calendar you fill in inConcept yourself, event by event on the calendar. Useful to split your activities, so you can show or hide each list on its own.

## What inConcept reads

- **Only what is public.** A calendar only you may see, inConcept cannot read either. That is why you make it public: anyone with the address can read it, nobody can change anything in it.
- **No private appointments.** An appointment you mark private in Google or Outlook is not taken over.
- **The address stays secret.** inConcept stores the address encrypted and shows it nowhere, not even to colleagues.

If you would rather not make your own work calendar public, make a separate calendar for the dates that matter, and connect only that one.

## Choose your calendar

- [Connect inConcept to Google Calendar](https://inconcept.ai/en/docs/suggestions/connect-calendar/google): Make the calendar public with all details, and paste the shareable link.
- [Connect inConcept to your Outlook calendar](https://inconcept.ai/en/docs/suggestions/connect-calendar/outlook): Publish the calendar in Outlook on the web, and paste the ICS link.
- [Connect inConcept to your iCloud calendar](https://inconcept.ai/en/docs/suggestions/connect-calendar/icloud): Share the calendar publicly on your Mac, and paste the URL.

## Another calendar

If you use another calendar, such as a trade association's, Proton or Fastmail, it usually goes like this:

1. Look in the calendar for Share, Publish, Subscribe or Integrate.
2. Make the calendar public. One only you can see is one we cannot read either.
3. Take the address, not the file. It is usually called iCal, ICS or webcal. If all you have is a file, go back and import it.
